Small vibration and violent shaking are different problems

A washer can vibrate while spinning or briefly move its load during sensing. Samsung notes small vibration at the start of a sensing cycle. That does not mean heavy banging or a machine moving out of position should be ignored.

There is no single amount of movement that is normal for every model, floor and installation. Compare the behavior with the owner's manual and with how the machine previously operated. If it is striking nearby surfaces or shaking violently, pause it using the controls if safely reachable. Do not try to hold it in place.

Maytag's vibration guidance separates installation, overload and bulky-item issues. A single difficult load is a useful clue, not proof that the machine is mechanically sound.

For a load problem, adjust only after the drum stops

  1. Pause safely. Use the normal controls. Wait for all movement to stop and the lock to release normally; do not force the lid or door.
  2. Check how the laundry sits. Untangle items and distribute them as the manual directs. If the load is tightly packed, reduce it within the machine's guidance.
  3. Check the bulky item's instructions. A wet rug or blanket can be a difficult load. Do not add more heavy items if that would exceed capacity or contradict the care label.
  4. Resume only when appropriate. If the manual permits resuming after redistribution and no damage or other warning sign is present, observe from a safe distance. If strong shaking returns, stop and arrange help.

LG recommends pausing and redistributing uneven laundry. Its button sequences and test cycles are model-specific; do not copy them to another washer or keep repeating a high-speed test.

If it is new or recently moved, check the installation record

Many front-load washers use shipping restraints to protect the tub during transport. These must be handled according to the installation instructions before normal operation. Their type, number and removal method vary. Do not remove an unidentified bolt simply because it is on the back of the machine.

Ask the installer to confirm the shipping materials, feet, locking nuts, pedestal or stacking kit, and floor support. GE's guidance calls for a solid floor, a level washer and feet firmly contacting the floor. A bubble that looks centered does not by itself establish that the complete installation is correct.

Do not tip, lift or pull out a heavy washer to reach a rear foot. A stacked unit or unstable floor especially needs appropriate installation help. Pads are not a substitute for finding an incorrect setup or a mechanical problem.

When to stop troubleshooting and call service

Beko warns that vibration and movement can damage an appliance. Stop repeated attempts if the machine continues to shake strongly after a suitable load adjustment, or if it has started shaking across ordinary loads.

Tell support the model, whether it was recently moved, which part of the cycle is affected, the load type and any error code. A video recorded from a safe distance can document a naturally occurring symptom; do not restart a suspect machine just to film it.

This guide does not diagnose bearings, suspension parts or electrical faults. Keep the cabinet closed and leave internal repairs to qualified service.

If the machine operates normally but leaves marks on laundry, that is a separate problem: see white residue on clothes after washing. Changing detergent is not a remedy for violent movement.
